Outpatient
Cardiac Rehab will begin shortly after your discharge from the
hospital. At The Health Centers our program is designed to get
patients on the road to recovery and better health for your future.
During the first phase of cardiac rehab all exercise will be EKG
monitored. You will take a physician supervised treadmill test
to determine exercise tolerance. This test will also serve as
a baseline test to measure your improvement.
This phase generally lasts between one and three months depending
on the individual patient need. You will work with our Physical
Therapist on a program specifically tailored to your needs. For
patient safety, a physician and emergency equipment will be available
during all monitored exercise.
The next phase of treatment includes exercise which is not EKG
monitored. This will continue for at least three months. Medical
professionals will be available to take action if any patient
experiences shortness of breath, chest pain or other cardiac related
symptoms.
Once phase one and two are completed it is strongly recommended
a patient continue with the exercise program. Our staff will design
a program that fits your lifestyle and encourages a healthier
heart. We offer a variety of cardio conditioning equipment free
weights and weight machines.
You may choose to continue to exercise at our facility or you
may choose another, no matter, your continued health is our first
concern. We will also make dietary and smoking cessation recommendations.
Ongoing contact with your physician during the rehab process is
crucial. We will send a letter to all involved physicians after
your first evaluation and upon completion of the program to address
your progress. We care about our patients physical and emotional
well being. Following a cardiac event patients need the support
of a caring doctor staff to speed the recovery process.
