Vestibular testing is
used to determine if there is something wrong in the inner ear that
is causing dizziness and balance disorders. Recent studies have
documented that vestibular tests are more accurate than clinical
examination in identifying inner ear disorders. At The Health Centers we use Electronystagmography or ENG test to properly diagnose patients
with vertigo or dizziness problems.
There are many causes for dizziness. Some symptoms can occur
following an auto accident or head trauma, some are the result
of a virus and even certain medications can cause dizziness and
balance disorders. No matter the cause all are treatable with
varying success rates. The most significant factor in recovery
depends on the duration of the condition. Vertigo that is left
untreated can be more difficult to resolve. Diagnosis is the key to any successful treatment especially where
vertigo is concerned. The ENG test is administered by a highly
trained technician. It consists of the patient wearing computerized
goggles which create complete darkness. While the patient is in
a sitting position images are flashed in front of the patients
eyes through the goggles. A sophisticated camera continually takes
pictures of the patients response to the stimulus and records
the data on a computer system. The data is the analyzed to determine
the location and cause of the dizziness. A treatment plan is specifically
formulated to resolve the condition using the Eply maneuver and
various types of physical therapy. Dizziness and balance disorders are debilitating and can prevent
you from living your normal active lifestyle. The Health Centers want you to know there is help. Call our office today or click
